Redesigning M2 Earn so users can find, set up and track plans with confidence
Problem
Users could not tell active plans from new offers, and APR, plan types and earnings were unclear.
My role
Product Designer on the Earn revamp, from user research and competitive benchmarking to the redesigned flows.
Key decision
Split Earn into My Plans and Earn Offers, and build boosted APR straight into a guided setup.
Outcome
27% → 11%
Drop-off at investment entry
Problem
Users could not tell what they had from what they could get
The existing Earn section lacked clarity, hierarchy, and transparency around APR rates, plan types, and earnings progress. Users struggled to differentiate between available and active plans, leading to confusion and reduced engagement.
Project goals
Make Earn clear, guided and rewarding
- Simplify plan discovery and setup.
- Improve visibility of user earnings and plan performance.
- Integrate boosted APR features in a seamless, educational way.
- Elevate the visual design to match the product's premium financial positioning.
Research
Users wanted clarity before they committed money
Users were uncertain about the difference between Fixed and Flexible plans.
Many dropped off at the amount entry step, unsure about eligibility, boosts and reward timing.
After investing, feedback was thin. Users wanted clear confirmation and next steps.
Design implication: guide users progressively, educate them contextually, and reward them visually.
Solution · Navigation and hierarchy
Separate what you own from what you can start
Before
- Earn was split into Fixed and Flexible tabs, shown as one long list of tokens.
- APR was the focus; lock period, boosts and total earnings were buried deeper in the flow.
- Bright greens and mixed type weights competed for attention.
- No overview of progress: users had to explore to find their active plans.
After
- A My Plans vs. Earn Offers split separates active investments from new opportunities.
- Overview cards show total earnings, current plan value and the next reward timer.
- Muted tones and consistent component structures create clear grouping.
- Key actions, view plans and start earning, are clearly separated.

Solution · Plan discovery
Compare plans at a glance
Before
- A flat, uniform token list: APR shown, but no plan duration, boost method or eligibility.
- No distinction between standard and boosted APR without opening each plan.
- Minimal filtering and sorting.
After
- Offers grouped into Boosted APR and Available for Earn, matching different intents.
- Each card shows APR range, plan type and boost opportunity up front.
- Expandable cards and state-based CTAs make selection smoother.

Solution · Plan setup
Guide the setup one clear step at a time
Before
- Basic input fields with little guidance.
- Dense text blocks to explain APR, duration and redemption terms.
- Boost options surfaced late, forcing back-and-forth.
- Weak continuity: each screen felt disconnected.
After
- An intro screen with key benefits and eligibility.
- Amount entry with Min and Max shortcuts and a visible balance.
- Boost configuration built into the plan overview, with no hidden steps.
- A final confirmation summarizing everything before commitment.

Solution · Next reward widget
Turn long plans into short milestones
A countdown to the next payout gives real-time progress (Fogg Behavior Model) and builds anticipation for the next earning moment (Hooked Model).

| Support tickets | High | Significantly reduced |
Learnings
What I would carry into the next product
- Contextual guidance reduces friction more effectively than pre-education.
- Visual hierarchy and progressive disclosure build trust during financial actions.
- Immediate feedback after an action, like a countdown to the first reward, drives satisfaction and retention.
